Health Insurance

Massachusetts law now requires every person in the Commonwealth to have health insurance. We are ready, able and willing to help you sign up for the insurance that fits your needs and income. Free or low cost health insurance is provided by the state for people who have no or limited income. See the Health Care For All web page for more information on what insurance is available to you and whether it’s free or at very low cost. Call us or drop in if you have questions about your health insurance and how to get care at the Sidney Borum Jr. Health Center.

Most people under 18 are covered either by their parent’s insurance or MassHealth.

For health issues concerning family planning and STDs, people under 18 don’t need their parent’s authorization to seek care and we at the SBHC are lucky to have support from the Agency for Boston Community Development to pay for STD tests and birth control for youth under age 19 and for other individuals under age 29 who don’t have adequate insurance. Visits for these issues are confidential and your parent’s don’t need to know you were ever seen for an STD test or birth control.

We accept all forms of insurance. In order to be your primary care provider (PCP) you will need to contact your insurance company and ask them to officially list us on the computer as your PCP.
